#Top25of2015 GymJams Countdown #1: KOLAJ. The Touch. #GymJam #burn #indie

What We Said Then:

Kolaj have a hit on their hands. Dancey enough to satisfy the EDM crowd, and pop enough to sound at home on Top 40 radio, this SoCal duo of Mighty Mike (production) and Tessa (vocals) are making music for the radio, club and gym!

What We Say Now:

At first they wowed us with “The Touch” in July, then killed it with an August cover of The Weeknd’s “Can’t Feel My Face” that made us almost forget the original. “The Touch” made it to #2 on our Songs Of The Summer 2015 list. Just when you thought they would end the year on a high note with the #18 on our Top 25 of 2105 list Kaskade collaboration “Whatever”, their cover of Adele’s “Hello” comes out of nowhere (we’ll be featuring that soon!). Whatever 2016 holds for KOLAJ, we are more than ready to take it all in.

#Top25of2015 GymJams #6: Lyel. Waterproof. #gymjam #lift #indie

What We Said Then:

Helsinki artist Lyel lays her delicate voice over even more delicate instrumentals to create glistening indiepop. Definitely one to watch!

What We Say Now:

We loved this track from the get-go in May, and even more in August when the whimsical official video dropped. Not your typical Lift track, but that melody is incredible. Big things to come in 2016 from Lyel!

#Top25of2015 GymJams #7. Wolfside. Dreamgirl. #gymjam #burn #indie

What We Said Then:

East Coast/West Coast band Wolfside are “two wolves, one sound to make you dance”. We think it’s working with “Dreamgirl”! We’ve had it on repeat since getting the single at Bandcamp. Can’t wait from more from this exciting new band.

What We Say Now:

Since stumbling upon this track in July, we still can’t get enough of “Dreamgirl”. This track can propel you through the hardest workout with a smile on your face. Wolfside’s indie double album is coming in 2016, and we can’t wait!!!!

#Top25of2015 GymJams #8: Major Lazer & DJ Snake. Lean On. Featruring MØ. #gymjam #lift

What We Said Then:

A side project of mega producer Diplo, Major Lazer brings trademark global dance rhythms to India for the “Lean On” video. Accompanied by DJ Snake (Of “Turn Down For What” fame) and vocals by MØ, this beautiful track-both visually and musically-is a treat. A great taste of what’s to come from he forthcoming album ‘Peace Is The Mission’.

What We Say Now:

Spoiler Alert: This may be the most mainstream track we feature on our countdown. We tend to gravitate towards indie artists, but this song is just so MASSIVE that we had to. Hard to beleive we first posted in march about “Lean On”, but that’s staying power. This was also a Songs Of Summer 2015 feature, since it dominated the airwaves then. Major Lazer’s had a few other tracks appear here: “Powerful” and “Light It Up”. MØ’s also appeared with “Kamikazee” in October. They’ve definitely set the bar high for thier 2016!

#Top25of2015 GymJams #9: Roses. Beautifully Broken. #gymjam #burn #indie

What We Said Then:

Ever flip through music and find a track that just takes over your day? We haven’t in a while, but did juts that with Roses (aka Rose Ranger). This Vancouver-based singer just released the amazing single “Beautifully Broken”, a stunning electro-pop jam that should be on every playlist. She has a great back catalog of more guitar-pop songs, but this is definitely a new direction that we’re glad she’s taken. We can’t wait for more from Roses!!! Enjoy “Beautifully Broken”!

What We Say Now:

Since we posted this in April, this track still gets a great reaction on GymJams.club…and our playlists. If you’re looking for a power song to finish your workout to, here you go. Thanks Rose for a brilliant track!!!

#Top25of2015 GymJams #10. HAERTS. Hemiplegia. #gymjam #lift #burn

What We Said Then:

Brooklyn-based HAERTS has a way with melancholy lyrics and breathtaking music. Hemiplegia is no exception. The powerful, building chorus hits you, as does the cautious breakdown of ‘you can’t move up with your eyes down’. From their late 2014 self titles release. While we wait for (hopefully) an official video, let this one be your introduction.

What We Say Now:

Still an amazing song since being posted as an early GymJam in February. Stunning vocals, writing and production. This song just sucks you in…and that’s a good thing. While we never found an official video, check out this live version to show you that HAERTS are legit!

#Top25of2015 GymJams #11: Kensington. Done With It. #gymjam #lift

What We Said Then:

Indie pop with a Dutch twist from Kensington. This 4 piece comes from Utrecht in the Netherlands, and know that good music can cross oceans. Welcome to America, Kensington. We’re happy to have you on our playlists!

What We Say Now:

We were immediately taken in with his voice, but the chorus and hook is what addicted us. We couldn’t wait to get the entire ‘Rivals’ album after posting “Done With It” in September. This is a great track that should be blaring from your car on a sunny day, soundtracking a kick back, and definitely on your workout playlists.

#Top25of2015 GymJams #12: tyDi. Redefined. Featuring Melanie Fontana. #gymjam #burn

What We Said Then:

Honestly, almost every track on Australian mega DJ tyDi’s album ‘Redefined’ is perfect for any workout, but we’re super addicted to that album’s track of the same name. Fierce vocals by insanely talented singer-songwriter-actress-tv personality Melanie Fontana add to the layered production by tyDi. Unlike some EDM tracks that sound great but lack emotion, tyDi and Melanie Fontana have carefully crafted the perfect combination of music and feeling. Feel the burn!

What We Say Now:

This song has been an amazing GymJam. That voice! Those beats! That chorus! Since being featured as a track in March, then posted as an official video in May, tyDi has released another track “Tear Me Up” and continues to rise. Plus, both tyDi and Melanie Fontana have become great friends and supporters of GymJams.club!

Check out an earlier track from tyDi and Melanie Fontana, “Nothing Really Matters”.

#Top25of2015 GymJams #13: Dami Im. Superlove. #gymjam #burn

What We Said Then:

An upbeat, standout track from Dami Im’s debut album Heart Beats. Dami is an X Factor Australia winner, and with catchy songs and that voice, we will be hearing much more from her. Pop and EDM collide on Super Love.

What We Say Now:

Not only does Dami get us revved up for cardio with “Super Love”, she can also slay it with a gorgeous, simple piano version that will blow you away. One of our first GymJams in February, and still one of our favorites.

#Top25of2015 GymJams #14: RAC. Can’t Forget You. Featuring Chelsea Lankes. #gymjam #burn

What We Said Then:

RAC saved his best once-a-month single release for last song of the summer with “Can’t Forget You”. Featuring cool vocals by indie pop singer Chelsea Lankes, this fun, festive and upbeat track will propel you through the last few workouts of summer…and beyond!

What We Say Now:

If you read us or follow us, you know we heart recent Grammy nominee RAC. “Let Go” was our first posted GymJam! We’ve seen RAC live 6 times, and have everything Andre and company release. Yeah, we’re kinda superfans. As the official unofficial house band for us, we rely on that awesome indiepop that RAC creates (either as original music or skillfully remixed interpretations of other artists soon-to-be-hits) to get us through the gym, the day, the life.

RAC’s been featured countless times here. From our #3forFrday posts to his recent singles-only releases for “Back Of The Car”, “Can’t Forget You”, “3am” and the awesome “One House”, you can count on quality music from a truly independent artist.
